Q: Is Acupuncture painful?

A: Acupuncture is generally painless and very safe.  We take special care to ensure that you feel completely comfortable before we insert the needles. We only use sterile, disposable needles which are extremely fine (approx. 1/20 the size of hypodermic needles). Many patients find it so relaxing they actually fall asleep during the treatment.

Q: How should I prepare for an appointment?

A: Please fill out the new patient paperwork we will e-mail to you upon booking your first appointment. Do not come on an empty stomach or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Make sure to have a small snack before you arrive. You should allow up to an hour for your first appointment and 45-minutes to an hour for subsequent visits.

Q: Are there any negative side effects or risks involved?

A: Acupuncture in incredibly safe and there are generally no negative side effects to be concerned about. Acupuncture will not interfere with any other medical treatment you may be undergoing but please list all current medical conditions in your new patient paperwork.

Q: How many visits does it take to see results?

A: Many patients begin to feel better after their first treatment. However, the number of treatments you will need varies based on the individual and his/her condition. Acupuncture has a cumulative effect, each treatment builds on the previous one and patients who come consistently generally report the best outcomes. We will give you a comprehensive treatment plan at your initial visit.
